We love to have fun together and we hope you’ll join us!
Here are a few of the things we do.
Book Discussion Group
Every two months, we meet in the library from 7 to 8 p.m. to discuss a book. Check the calendar for the dates and the newsletter for what we’re reading next.
Breakfast Bunch
Come eat with us! A fun, informal group meets for breakfast between the services most Sundays at 9 a.m. at Delia’s, 6715-F Backlick Rd., Springfield. It’s just south of Old Keene Mill Rd. in a small shopping center.
Chair Yoga
Chair yoga is a meaningful and gentle time to center in our bodies. We meet most Saturdays 10 to 11 a.m. in the auditorium, but sometimes in the fellowship hall. Check the calendar to confirm the date, time, and location.
Coffee Hour
After the 10:30 a.m. service, volunteer hosts set out snacks, coffee, and hot water for tea in the fellowship hall. The first Sunday of the month the snacks are potluck—you bring the food and the hosts handle the setup and cleanup.
Game Night
Every month or so on a Sunday evening, we come together to play games (cards, board games, whatever else people bring) and share snacks and beverages (potluck) in the auditorium. All ages are welcome. Check the calendar for details.
Holy Hikes
The first Saturday of the month, a group gathers at 10 a.m. at one of the area’s many parks to trek, appreciate nature, and enjoy each other’s company. The hikes are usually 3-4 miles long over flat ground or gentle hills. Cameras are encouraged, and kids and dogs are welcome! Sometimes we need to reschedule due to weather. Check the calendar to confirm the date, time, and location.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Knitters and crocheters (and those who’d like to learn) meet in the library the last Saturday of the month at 11 a.m. to stitch. We make shawls and baby blankets and Rev. Carey blesses them before they are given away so people can feel wrapped in God’s love. Come and have fun with us making things that bring comfort and sharing fellowship and prayer!
Shrine Mont
Did you know that the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia doesn’t have a brick and mortar cathedral? Instead we have the Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration, a beautiful outdoor worship space atop a hill at Shrine Mont in Orkney Springs.
We gather there one weekend a year for a time of rest, fellowship, and reflection. Trivial Pursuit and puzzle teams are favorite activities, as are hiking and worshipping Sunday morning outside at the Shrine. We encourage and welcome all ages!
Find this year’s information here.
Shrine Mont also has wonderful summer experiences for kids. Talk to Rev. Carey if you’re interested in scholarship information.
